Hi Erik,

I've only riden the city bike trails so far. As far a downhill and free riding go there are a few metropolitan bike trails to consider.

In Perth the steep ride up and down through Kings Park also boasts spectacular views of the city and Swan River.

In Adelaide, the Belair National Park has a few steep trails. The Southern Expressway has a great endurance bike trail that runs from Darlington down south to almost Seaford Rise. Besides the hills the overall gradient from Majors Road to Morphett Vale is very steep. I took my exgirlfriend there for her first ride with me, and I had to get the car to pick her up on the steep run uphill, and she vowed never to do it again.

Also other cities like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane all have hills around them.

I hope this helps. But if you're after a more extreme downhill run or freeride trail maybe some others know.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Elizabeth,

Glad you found that link for the Sydney bike trails. This site has just changed servers and no its back online I have personally ridden and reviewed bike trails in 6 capital cities so far.

I recently reviewed a few of the trails in and near Sydney CBD. Depending whether you don't mind a lot of pedestrians, or prefer a good fast ride, you won't be disappointed. Generally well signposted and good surfaces.

Briefly some recommended bike paths around Sydney that I rode are, Circular Quay to Potts Point (along the Harbour), Centennial Park (great circular track for fast rides), and Olympic Park (three main tracks to explore around the location for the Sdyney 2000 Olympic Games).

Please check back soon for details, maps, reviews and pics of those bike trails.

The first phase is to review bike trails in the capital cities around Australia. Then if that works well review bike paths in regional areas. As I plan to visit and ride them for the reviews, to take photos and maybe video. I'm based in Adelaide so obviously the local trails will get some attention too.

Which locations are the bike trails that you will be revealing? Are these all in one city or Australia wide?
